Biscoff protein balls filled with oats, protein powder, nuts and chocolate chips. No food processor needed, perfect to meal prep as a healthy snack or sweet treat!

There’s no doubt these biscoff protein balls are a household favourite. They give you just the right amount of energy, are filling, loaded with healthy ingredients, and taste oh so good.

My boyfriend is obsessed with biscoff and buys protein bars all the time so these balls *had* to happen. You only need one bowl, a few pantry ingredients and a jar of biscoff spread! Did I mention no food processor is needed? You just use your hands to mix everything together.

I love to make a batch of these on the weekend so that we have yummy grab-n-go snacks throughout the week. They’re also perfect for a pre or post-workout snack (or even dessert). We also top them with a little drizzle of biscoff spread to make them delicious!

Ingredients you’ll need:

These yummy protein balls are made with 5 ingredients plus your favourite mix-ins. Here’s everything you’ll need to make them:

  • Biscoff spread: my one tip is to soften the spread first so it is easy to mix everything together. I usually pop the jar into the microwave for 15 seconds.
  • Oats: I used quick oats for a subtle chewy texture. But rolled oats can also be used.
  • Crushed nuts: almonds, cashews and peanuts work best here
  • Protein Powder:I used a vanilla whey protein powder here but you can use a vanilla plant protein powder if preferred. This obviously increases the protein content and also brings a little sweetness to the mix.
  • Maple syrup: just a touch for sweetness
  • Chocolate chips
  • Almond milk: you’ll need a splash to combine everything together.
  • Salt

How to make biscoff protein balls

Combine ingredients: Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine.

Form a dough: Use your hands to form a dough.

Make balls: Once combined, use a small cookie scoop to scoop and form the dough into balls.

Decorate: Drizzle with extra melted bisocff spread and top with crushed biscoff biscuits if desired.

Protein Balls are too dry or crumbly?

Some protein powders will soak up more liquid than others and if you don’t melt your biscoff spread before using it will be harder to combine. This is totally normal and it might cause your your protein ball mixture to seem a little dry or crumbly. If this happens, just add a little water or almond milk to the protein ball mixture, 1 teaspoon at a time until the mixture is moist enough to form into balls. Just be careful not to add too much liquid.

Customise these biscoff protein balls

  • For the maple syrup: feel free to use honey or another liquid sweetener instead.
  • Mix-ins: add cacao nibs, chopped chocolate, chopped macadamia nuts or or dried fruit in place of the chocolate chips and crushed nuts.
  • Make them into bars. Press the protein ball “dough” into an 8.5×4.5 loaf pan before placing it in the refrigerator. Chill then cut into bars and enjoy!

Storing & freezing tips

  • To store: keep these biscoff balls in a snap lock bag or air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • To freeze: you can freeze these protein balls in a freezer-friendly bag or container for up to 2 months. If you’re eating them straight from the freezer I recommend letting them soften up a bit in the fridge or at room temp before doing so.

Do I need a food processor to make protein balls?

Nope! I love that this recipe is made without a food processorandwithout dates! Just mix everything together in one bowl with your hands.

What Flavour is Biscoff?

Lotus Biscoff biscuits are thin caramelised shortcrust biscuits, with adeep caramel flavourand a subtle cinnamon undertone.

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Use your hands to form a dough.
  3. Once combined, use a small cookie scoop to scoop and form the dough into balls.
  4. Drizzle with extra melted bisocff spread and top with crushed biscoff biscuits if desired.
  5. Store in a covered container in the fridge or freezer.
