I have used this Uhaul location several times over the past 7 yrs. Have been very happy with their service and convenience.
One thing I dont think most people would know is if they offer you the extra insurance it is not like a rental car company where it is just insurance on top of your insurance. Most personal car insurance will cover vans and pickup truck rentals under your regular insurance but not if the rental is 14 feet and larger, or the cab is separated from the back of the truck! They are not trying to upsell you here, you could be driving without insurance if you turn it down. Common knowledge to some people, but not to most.
Hope this helps, as many things can happen when you are driving a big truck.
* in response to [Stan R.], yes there are «Day Workers» who gather there… they can be a bit obnoxious, but this is SoCal… Uhaul tries to discourage them from soliciting on the actual property. I have used the help a few times and these are great workers. I was impressed and the guy backed the truck down a very perilous driveway that I wouldn’t have wanted to do myself!

The store there is alright. However, I would like to remind you one thing. I went to pick up my reservation in the morning. Before I drove into the store, right when I was trying to make a turn, some Mexican came to ask me if I needed any move help. Just when I was replying, some other Mexican directly walked into the road I was planning to drive to. I did not know what he was trying to do. However, I did not feel very good about it.
After I returned the truck, right in front of the store, some Mexican said to me «Because of you, I hurt my leg.» I did not know that guy, I joked «How much do you want». I did not stop, because I did not want to speak to him. I directly walked to my car. Just before I went into my car, that Mexican shouted at me «I was planning to let it go. However, since you said how much I want, I am gonna do it.» Then he went into store and was trying to show me that he was talking with one guy working there. I knew he was bluffing, I started my car and went away.
What I want to say is that if you want some guys to help you, get these men from the stores or online, they worked for the company, they have insurance. Do not deal with these men hanging around outside the store. I think they are illegal immigrants, and I believe they try their best to fake some injuries or something like that to give you a shot.

Rented a cargo van over the weekend for a quick one furniture move. Customer service was excellent. date and time I picked up was 1pm on Sat Aug 30 2015. Rates were inexpensive ($ 40 including tax, traveled 30 miles total + $ 7 gas to fill er up!)

Everyone here was super nice today.
I did have to call back a second time to get product info before coming in after being placed on terminal hold.
Too many items did not have prices under them causing me to have to bother the staff to scan the item and then that is lengthy process for some reason.
Good place for supplies or truck/​van rental.
Place is too small and busy for quality installation like a hitch. For that I would go to the larger locations, preferably outside LA County.
Never drive your car onto the U-​haul Property here until it is your turn to be hitched. It is way too small (it’s a converted gas station) and you will back things up. Park on the street until it’s your turn. Same if you are just shopping – don’t drive onto the property – park on the street. Because it’s a small location – they have less inventory of everything including trucks.

This is my first time moving, and my first experience with any Uhaul. Between calling me multiple times to confirm my appointment to have my car hitch installed (all with different times), up charging me every which way, and being over an hour later than expected for the installation, I’ve had a HORRIBLE experience.
I’ve heard good things about Uhaul, but it must have been for another location. This has been horrible.

I came to get my propane tank filled (my tank has a gauge on it so I prefer to refill versus exchange). They filled it up and I was on my way. There’s not much to my review, but then again there’s not much to what I needed :)

We reserved a 26′ truck to move our household belongings from Redondo Beach to Burbank four weeks in advance. Then, just like the Seinfeld episode, they gave our reservation away. So, what’s the point of having a reservation. Uhaul let us pay for a 20′ truck and a small trailer to make up for it. We used those on our move day, they let us use the trailer the next day to move more, had to move even more stuff with my own car two days later AND NOW have to find a truck to rent to move the rest of our belongings. Thanks a lot for making a difficult thing even worse! Twenty six foot volume is not the same as 20′ and a trailer.

We went here to get a hitch put on our SUV. They ordered the part and made an appointment to have it installed. I showed up at our scheduled appointment time and after an hour the technician still had not started on my car. He was still trying to get a hitch on another car that didn’t have an appointment. After many calls and complaints they finally took the other car off and did mine. I sat there waiting for almost 3 hours. Not once did the manager come explain what was going on, or offer any kind of apology. He did give us a small discount, but will never return to this location.

David, the manager, was really helpful over the phone during my reservation process. He was friendly and worked out a deal to upgrade us to a larger truck because they didn’t have the size available that their website claimed they had. He also agreed to NOT charge us for Xmas day and let us return one day later to account for the holiday. When we arrived to pick up the truck and explain this to Yvonne, she had a HORRIBLE attitude, spoke down to us in the most rude manor I have ever experienced in my life. She literally raised her voice at us after we just handed over $ 300! Told us the clock was ticking on our rental and to get our truck and go. «Get going!» I have been in customer service for decades and cannot believe this woman still has a job dealing with the public. Because of the way she handled the situation (which, by the way, was understandable in theory but her demeanor escalated the situation way beyond necessary) I will never return to this uhaul location and discourage family and friends from patronizing this location as well.
The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the experience was not a total loss and David helped us out. Based on Yvonne’s attitude, behavior and lack of tact I would have given 1 star, if that.

Ok… I go in and ask for a truck. The guy working at the time was so cool and awesome. He helped me with everything. 5 Stars
I get two day workers to help me move. They did a great job helping me move.
I returned the truck and the girl that helped was awesome! She was a little sassy and fun to talk to. 5 stars
During the move a spare cell phone was stolen and $ 700 in calls were placed to Mexico. We called Verizon Wireless and they won’t do anything about it. They assume because my wife’s maiden name is Sanchez, that we know who has the phone and authorized the calls. Neither of us speak Spanish, or know anyone in Mexico. Verizon rep says «no Ma’am, you know who has that phone, and placed those calls. You authorized those calls.». She just repeated this over and over, until we hung up. I do not know if the workers we got at U-​Haul stole the phone, but that’s my best guess. So if you pick up workers it could cost you a lot of money!

Beware when you check out your truck. Roll up the cargo door to confirm that the god-​damn passive «seals» are in place on their dolly and moving blankets. If the seals aren’t present, they will try and ding you $ 12 for rental of both items and not even consider the possibility that they made a mistake upon check out.
I also had a very old truck…167,000 miles!
Next time, I’d like to go with Ryder.

Uhaul? — Me haul? Physics defines work as when a force acts to move an object; work was done. No thanks! I’m just not that into work. So when I was tapped to move a whole sh*t load of «stuff» up to Cal Poly I tried my darnedest to get out of this unpleasant task. Let’s see… «Oh I gotta straighten my socks drawers!» — bam, shot down quicker than Cheney’s hunting buddy. «What? there are plenty of careers that don’t need no stinkin’ college degree», I offered. Wife and daughter both rolled their eyes and continued to plan this «big» move with total disrespect for the indolent lifestyle that I have been so comfortably ensconced. Ah ha! «My truck is not big enough», I exclaimed. Good one I thought to myself. «Uhaul» came the snotty response from the other room. «Hey, I brought you into this world, I can take you out!» I muttered under my breath as I googled «Uhaul». D@mn these women…
Driving up to the Uhaul place at the bottom of the Palos Verdes hill on Hawthorne Bl. I silently wished to see the lot emptied of trucks — no such luck. In fact, they had plenty — big ones, small ones, you name it. I gotta admit, Uhaul made renting a truck easy. Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. The truck I got only had 1500 miles on it. Nice shiney and new — didn’t want my daughter’s new neighbors to think that Jed Clampett was moving next door, also would have been a b*tch if it broke down on the road. Everything went smooth from picking up the truck to dropping the truck off at its new home at the Uhaul place in San Luis Obispo.
Next time? I’m gonna rent their biggest truck so I can get a big 10 – 4 from all the Unilocalers I pass on the road — keep on truckin’!
