While the story felt fresh and one of a kind at the time, there was another thing that left fans completely shaken. At some point during the show, the makers decided to introduce an even more badass and powerful version of the already existing vampires, and well, no one has recovered from it since. We are talking about the Originals, specifically about the hybrid vampire, Klaus, the appearance of which left teen girls with twisted expectations and ideas.

Creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson introduced the Original vampires in the show in an attempt to bring more conflicts and add more drama to it. The famous character of Niklaus Mikaelson, or just Klaus, was brought into the show in season 2, episode 19 of the show, which is also titled “Klaus.”

The second season mentioned the Original vampires throughout, even before their physical appearance, with the rest of the characters setting the ground for the smooth entry. Before he enters into the series, we were told that Klaus is one of the originals, one of the first vampires to ever exist.

The entire nineteenth episode turns out to be extremely informative as we find more about the relationship Elijah had with Katherine, Elena’s doppelganger, and with his brother, Klaus. We also find out more about the curses, especially the one that has kept Klaus’ werewolf side bound and suppressed.

In the previous few episodes, the main leads, Elena, Damon, and Stefan, had discussed the possibility of Klaus appearing and the limits to his powers. That he would be extremely powerful, easily overtaking the rest, was already settled.

Over the episodes, we got a deeper look into Klaus’ history, relationships with his siblings, traumatic past intertwined with his father’s horrible actions, and a whole lot more. Despite his character’s uncountable flaws and dangerous murdering tendencies, he received much love from fans.

The actor who played the role, Joseph Morgan, was even seen questioning the positive response Klaus got, considering his neat habit of ripping people’s hearts out and taking revenge just for the kick of it. It is also during this episode that we are told about his hybrid nature, which makes it a little difficult for the rest to kill him.

His sarcastic comments in the most serious situations, the habit of always getting the last words out, not fearing anything except maybe his father, being completely reckless and unhinged, and last of all, the way actor Joseph Morgan carried the role, all are some of the reasons why the character was so loved despite his aggressive, people killing ways.

We have to mention that the character of Klaus had appeared in the second season before this episode as well, but it was as Alaric Saltzman, in episodes titled “Know Thy Enemy” and “The Last Dance,” which was Klaus but in Alaric’s body. It was only in episode nineteenth that actor Joseph Morgan first appeared as Klaus in the show.

The characters of the Original vampire group became much more popular than the rest of the show’s cast, so the makers decided to create a whole other show titled The Originals with just them. This one also ended up being just as successful, with fans a deeper look into these beloved characters.
